Well we've made it to the other side of the world after a short flight from New Zealand. We both couldn't believe we were in Australia! We landed in Melbourne and soon found our way to the hostel. Having to carry our bags again was a big shock especially with the added weight of the tent and sleeping bags. We definately realised how much we took the car for granted. But it was nice to be back in a bed again and eat something other than beans on toast!! We were staying above an english pub about ten minutes outside the city. It was really nice and even better that it had free breakfast. We were also able to get a meal there on a night for $6 which works out about two pound. It was a real treat for us so we made the most of it!
We spent 5 days here and managed to see most of what was on offer. We had to spend the first day doing the important things like sorting our visa and tax file number so we can work in Australia. Once this was out of the way we were able to just relax. The weather was boiling, about 36 degrees, even a bit much for us so it made walking around quite tiring. We explored most of the city and were very impressed. We visited the popular Queen Victoria Market, more for Lynz than Lee, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Chinatown, the seaside resort of St Kilda and still managed to do a bit of shopping! Lynz also got to go on the famous neighbours tour which she was chuffed about. She went to visit Ramsey Street and Erinsborough High and even got to meet Libby. Think this was definately the highlight of her stay here!!
Next we are off to Adelaide for 5 days. We are travelling by train which will take 11 hours but we have been upgraded to first class so we are very excited!!
