Day 50. Up early and walked Elle along a track out to sand dunes on the property. The sun was coming up and it was quite lovely. Days 48 and 49. Had a walk on Town Beach, Port Samson (not dog friendly)! while RM and Elle revisited the wharf. Then we packed up and drove south, stopping for the night at Barradale Rest Area, on the Yannarie River. Sadly, the mighty looking river is empty right now but the area is still pretty. Day 47. Today we walked around Point Samson and its small port. There are some offshore mining rigs in the harbour, presumably awaiting a new location. Then off to Dampier where we worshipped at the shrine of Red Dog. Elle was more interested in another live dog than the statue but we did manage to get her to pose for pictures with Red Dog. Days 46. Drove to Point Samson from deGrey. We lost a suitcase from our roof rack near the Port Hedland turnoff. Fortunately, it did not hit anyone or our caravan. We heard the noise but it took us a bit of time to work out what had happened. I was driving of course and had to steer the charabanc setup off the road in heavy traffic! Day 45. Today we spent in Port Hedland. It is like moving to a different planet after the last 43 days. RM is entranced! We parked for hours to watch bulldozers moving salt around. Then we drove around the town, which is very much a working town. Women and men in fluro vests everywhere! There is a lovely park overlooking the port.
