We have spent the last few days on Waiheke Island. We found an amazing remote campsite in the Wakanewha Regional Park, perfect for our first stop in the van, right by a beach! Yesterday we went up to Stony Batter which is a historic reserve, we went into some WW2 emplacement tunnels which were really cool and really spooky!! Well mainly spooky when James was freaking me out. We only had a torch to guide us in the pitch black! The countryside on the island is amazing! Lots of cool hills, woods and vineyards! Last night we were treated to a nights stay in a beach apartment from my lovely friend Lucy in Devon. It was nice to be treated, last time we will have hot running water for a while!! We are currently in a beach cafe looking out to sea having breakie and planning our day looking round art galleries and sculpture gardens :)
Back at the remote campsite tonight then off back to the mainland to head up country!

Mum & Dad It sounds fantastic - we didn't realise how big the island is - thought it was quite a small island. Glad the appartment stay was good = great gift from Lucy! Mum & Dad x
