We drove up trough Taupo and Rotorura, stopping in Rotorura for James to look at the new ZERODE bike. It was really cool as James had loved and looked at the design of this bike for a while. A guy called Rob designs them in Rotorura and we were lucky enough to meet his brother in the shop and James had a good chat and a look! We then carried on up the road to Tauranga to see Ann and Paul. They are a lovely couple that are friends with Sally and Christopher (James's mum and dad). We had been in you h and had organised to see them, they were kind enough to let us stay in the house . . . In a real bed!! Ann cooked a lovely dinner for us and we had a great evening chatting and telling each other our stories. The next day we drove to an old quarry just out of Tauranga where Ann and Paul do volunteering. The community have transformed the quarry into a beautiful garden with sculptures, bees and butterflies! It was beautiful, we seemed to have the whole place to ourselves as it had been raining earlier in the morning and only really cleared up when we got there! After a lovely wander round we drove to Mt Monganui. There was a really nice beach with a cool mountain on the end. It was a beautiful place and nice to hang out there but it was a bit posey for us lots of 'cool' volleyballers and surfers strutting their stuff! We had been far too spoilt with the remote deserted beaches that we had been to on our trip! We had another lovely evening with Ann and Paul.
