This morning we we had to set alarms for 6.30 as breakfast was at 7. Grim! Becky and I could easily have had a few extra hours but we got up and headed for breakkie. We had eggs and sausages and watermelon. The amazing part was the cup of tea. I had an actual cup of English tea with proper milk. It was the best thing ever. And my first cup of tea in two months!
After breakfast we left the cruise ship and took a little boat over to a pier surrounded by little raft houses and shops. We went to the pearl museum which was so ace. It basically showed us how pearls were made and extracted from the clams! It was incredible watching the locals perfect their craft. Tom and Wendy bought their daughter a lovely pearl and diamond necklace for her wedding day. I thought that was amazing that she was going to have something so unique and her parents were able to pick out the pearl! After the museum we headed back to the cruise ship and got our bags ready. We had to head onto another boat that was going to take us to cat ba island. This island is like the stuff you dream about. Little huts made out of bamboo, white sands, warm water and the sun shining over the horizon. It took about two hours to get there and it was worth it! The boat came up to a wooden pier that snaked around the bay which had individual houses on it. Somehow me and becky landed our own double room; I have no clue how!
Bikinis on and it was sunbathe time, what we do best! Becky is reading her book about religion and why people believe certain things and I got stuck into game of thrones! At around 1am lunch was served and it was another amazing seafood number with all the trimmings. As soon as lunch was finished it was back to sunbathing!
Later in the evening, we watched the sun set behind the mountains. I was so glad becky was enjoying it because I waited to do halong with her because I knew she would love it. After more food (I have ate more on this tour than the past two months!) we chilled with our big group and chatted over some beers. Becky and I got talking to a couple from demark who live in shanghai. They were nice and had been to china like me so we had a lot of shared experiences. We also got
Chatting to the big group of English 'lads' who ate all the buffet food too fast, however they redeemed themselves with good conversation! Sebastian is a guy from Northampton who just had an abscess removed from his leg. Apparently whiskey is the new painkiller! Alice was really dead on too along with Robbie, and Irish guy I met in hoi'an! We both recognised eachother and remembered it was from playing volleyball in the pool at sunflower hotel. There were about 25 of us all sitting around a candlelit table on the beach, in the middle of ha long bay. We played drinking games and card games, and then the English 'lads' started telling heinous jokes . We then went for a swim at around 4am. Bed at 6am. Up at 7am. Brilliant night.
