Hello strangers!
Hmmm, it's been a long time! Lots has happened since the last entry. Some I'd rather not talk about, some I've forgotten, and some I will tell you about! I guess the first big news is that there is only 11weeks left on my NY year. We have Halloween round the corner (massive deal out here), Thanksgiving, and then MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A couple weeks of travel, then back to the UK. Gordon Bennet. How fast can time go.
I went up to Bear Mountain with Vicky this weekend, it was fantastic. So beautiful! The Autumn (oops, Fall) colours were amazing. We followed a little trail, and then took an unplanned shortcut to get back to the start. Never the best idea to take shortcuts through mountain areas. I found myself caught in a thorn bush. Vicky came to help untangle me, but then she found herself in a very muddy puddle. We both escaped, and soon came to realise that the 'easy to walk up hill' was actually a fair bit steeper than we had anticipated. Some of those bushes are really sharp! Tree roots/brances to climb over. Then Vicky finds some tracks in the mud, too small to be bear tracks so we didn't panic too much. It was only the next day that I realised it could have been wolf tracks... anyway, as the gradient steepened at the top, we were literally using our hands to pull ourselves up. Luckily it brought us out exactly where we wanted so it ll worked out for the best! After that we stuck to the main trails! We walked round the lake which looked stunning. It was a gorgeous day but freezing cold (apparently that's what happens on mountains).
I have new roomies now! Andy, Gareth and Lindsay have left the flat, so me, Dan and Vic now live with Anna, Pascale, and Donnchadh. We all get on great so we were very lucky. We had an apartment brunch last weekend. We went to a place in Greenwich village where you get unlimited champagne or mamosas with your brunch. So that led to a very silly afternoon! Although poor Pascale was severely hungover... We are all going out again next week to Cafe Wha.
The girls have come and gone! Ele, Jo and A's were here for a week in Sept. It was brilliant having them here! We were all a bit tired at the end but it was a fab week. They did all the shopping (they called it sightseeing) while I was at work, then i met them in the eve for dinner and occasionally some more shopping! We spent their last night at an 80s nightclub called Culture Club! Very funny night. Ele treated me a Bon Jovi shot which went down very well. We had a good boogie, though we spent much of the night laughing at the DJ who seemed to have too much fun playing with the volume, and was less than skilled at letting tracks run in full. We also had a fab first night at Cafe Wha where the live band were fantastic!
I've put on new photos so have a little look if you can. I will try and keep more up-to-date with this from now till the end.
Hope you are all well and happy!
Miss you all,
Tre
