Title: Thursday, day 16 at sea.
Today was a lousy day for sailing because there wasn't any wind, but it was a perfect day for working on my tan. So I grabbed my lotion and my towel and went up to the bow, which is the only place you can lay out. Actually, the bow has always been my favorite place since I was a kid, I just love the up and down motion of the boat and the rhythmic sound of the bow wave. I spent almost two hours and actually fell asleep up there.
Mirko fixed pasta marinara tonight and when I sighted land while I was on watch, Barry broke out another bottle of Merlot to have with dinner.
As I am writing this, the full moon is coming up in the south east and we can see many lights of Faial and Pico.. We are about 25 miles off shore and are adjusting our speed to arrive in Horta at daybreak. It's very exciting approaching a new port at night after 16 days at sea.
