Title: Tuesday, day 13 at sea.
The high winds and large seas have abated and today we are pretty much back to normal sailing however, the temperature has certainly dropped.
Barry examined the mainsail this morning and found two broken tracks that guide the sail up the mast. Without all of these intact, extraordinary force can be exerted on the remaining guides and pop them all out during a hard blow. So Barry had to cannibalize the spare mainsail to get track guide replacements. Just another incident that convinces me that this boat is just one force 9 storm away from being totally disabled.
We are also running out of certain food items. All the granola bars are gone and less than two bags of saltine crackers left. We have plenty of food, but it all has to be cooked.
Mirko confided in me that he will leave the boat in Horta and either find another boat or take the ferry to San Miguel to catch a flight to Bologna.
