It was very nice to stay in Kyarusozi and relax this weekend! We were able to catch up on some sleep and lounge around. Yesterday, we went to 10:30 church with all of our kiddies. I held Robert (7 month old baby) the whole entire mass. When my arm started hurting, I realized that this is what it will feel like to be a mother. He fell asleep on me for about 45 minutes and was the cutest thing in the world. I can tell that he knows who I am because his face lights up with a giant smile. He still throws up on me occasionally but--tis life and I've started bringing towels to lay down. There were about 20 children that came to mass with us and they all sat in between the 6 of us. I gave the children the rest of my Ugandan coins so they could put them in the basket before the gifts were brought up. Little things like this are what make the children sooo happy! After mass, we went home and whipped up some pasta and chilled out for a bit. Then, we headed to the town of Kyarusozi which is only a 5 minute walk. it was the first time we went and we did not realize how many stores and businesses there are. On our way, we stopped at Kyimani's hosue and she asked us in and cut us some pineapple. She came with us to town and made her friends buy us popcorn--talk about eating our way through Kyarusozi. We went to one of the many tea factories and walked through the tea leaves until we thought we heard a lion--just thunder :) At this point, we had about 5 other children walking and enjoying the journey with us! One of the kids told us to take a tea leaf and eat it--so we did. It was not too appetizing, but it would be delicious crumbled up in tea. Once we got back into the town, we spotted our core group running at us (the Francis family and Happy family). We still have no idea how they found us but word must travel fast when there are Mzungu spottings. That night, we made breakfast for dinner-- pancakes, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and jello. It was delicious. We also scarfed down another cake that was left over from the Ordination.
Today at school, I was only able to do an art project with the kids. We splatter painted poster boards that we are going to write the lyrics of "Our God is an Awesome God" on. Since Friday is our last day, we are teaching P2, P3, and P4 Lion King songs and Waka Waka and having them do a puppet show. The Nursery classes and P1 will be singing "Our God is an Awesme God" for everyone while holding up signs and art projects!
Five more days in Kyarusozi. Where has the time gone?!
