Unfortunately, my cold keeps progressing and I am coughing non stop! I have been taking medicine and drinking lots and lots of fluids so I am optimistic that it will soon help. I'm sure playing with the neighborhood kids and teaching everyday isn't the best but my time is slowly dwindling here. The good news--The jigger is compeletly removed and I am just cleaning it and covering it everyday!
On Thursday, we read the students Rainbow Fish and had them decorate their own fish! They LOVED it. On Friday, I was ready to tackle letters O and P in the morning. I began teaching, thinking my teacher was out of the room because she was no where to be seen, and I hear her say something about 15 minutes into the lesson. She was sleeping on the ground in the back because she didn't feel well. I didn't have the heart to tell her that I was in the same boat so I powered through and taught the whole entire day. I even felt better by the end of the day. For arts and crafts, I had the students paint their foot and put their footprints on a piece of paper with their name. We will decorate the room with the footprints and a sign that says "We are the Children of God-- Itwe tuli bana ba Ruhanga". On Wednesday, the students decorated people and those are now in the room. We are almost out of space to hang everything up!
On Saturday, there was an Ordination for two Holy Cross Brothers at the Kyarusozi Parish. We had visitors staying at the convent for the weekend, along with many many many other visitors! The Ordination was at 10:00 am and we arrived at 9:30 to "get good seats". All of the seats were reserved for certain groups so we were able to get a seat easily in the religious section with all the seesters. The Ordination was about 4 hours long and it was very intriguing to watch and listen to the ceremony in English, ruturro, swahali, and other languages. We had told the neighborhood kids to come and sit with us but they got stuck outside because the church was packed. After, we sat with them during the speeches and dancing. The day before, we gave some of the boys and girls SMC polos, SMC socks, and sunglasses that they wore on Saturday! It was the cutest thing.
Today has been very relaxing. We just got back from church and now we are making some pasta for lunch! We only have 6 days left!!! I can't believe how fast the time has gone. We are planning our 4th of July party with the seesters and our party for the neighborhood kids!
Have a happy Sunday!
