Got up pretty early - didn't want to leave the comfy bed!! The girls had a shuttle to the airport so I got up when they did - think it was around 7. Steph was already up and about - she hadn't slept too well, so I went and sat with her on the balcony while the other girls packed. Walked to Brumy's bakery with the other girls as they went to get brekkie then we all sat outside the hostel till the girls shuttle arrived. Another hard goodbye!! They have said if I ever want to visit California I can stay with them, so theres that option! Was sad to say bye but they got the bus driver to beep his horn as they drove past me so I waved goodbye! I walked back to the hostel and got myself some brekkie then went and got changed and headed to the doctors. My eye had been sore since Friday night and got worse and worse. It was really bad on the boat and when I had woken up it was really bad - I knew it was conjunctivitus, all the symptoms were there. had to wait for about an hour but luckily I had brought my book so I finished that. The doctor was really nice but she said that my eye was bad - she said it was bad conjunctivitus and I should take drops every 2 hours. She said it should clear up in two days no problems, so I went to the pharmacy to pick up the drops and put some straight in! It was looking awful, felt really really self concious of it. Meant I couldn't wear contacts either which was weird!! Had to search the bottom of my bag for my glasses! Went back to the hostel and put a wash on. While I waited I exchanged my book for a new one, painted my nails, went on the computer, made lunch and wrote a list of why I should/shouldn't stay in Airlie. I was really thinking about it! Have done so many lists while travelling, just so I can make sure I am making good decisions! Didn't help this time though, was totally 50/50! Went to the supermarket and the pharmacy for a bit of shopping then read my magazine for a bti and got changed. Went to Travel Bugs at 3 for my meeting with Bucko. Was a bit nervous! He was really nice luckily, seemed pretty cool. He was very honest and said it was up to me what I did. I told him where I was with everything and he said I would probably get 5x4 hour shifts a week, but it might be less, might be more... all seemed quite wishy washy. He said he wouldn't mind trialing me for two weeks to see how it goes. Sounded good, but he said I would be touting the whole time - really I would have wanted to get more involved with sales etc rather than standing by the door. He told me I could think about it then come back, so I walked to the beach and sat with a milkshake and a notepad and pen for another trusty list. Spent a long time thinking about it. It was a good oppertunity, I could take up his offer of trying it for two weeks, I would make some money... then again I was feeling rady to leave Airlie, wouldnt be making THAT much after food and accom, knew it would be boring, knew it wuold probably be lonely..... I was, again, 100% 50/50 on the situation! Rang mum and had a chat with her and dad but again I didnt really know! Went back to Travel bugs to use the internet and thought about Asia, before realizing that wouldn't actually make a difference to whether or not I stayed here,.,,, Realized I was looking for reasons to go so took it as a sign I wanted to leave. So, made the decision to move on from Airlie and wanted to leave the next day... Problem was, I went on the Oz Ex website and the space on the bus that had been there earlier that day had gone!! Didn't know if that was a sign not stay, didn't know if I wanted an extra day then to leave because that would be less with the girls in Cairns, was confused all over again! Told Bucko I needed to speak to someone in England about my plans (was going to ring STA) and asked if I could go in the next day and he was cool about that, maybe too cool! So, I went back to my hostel and rang up and asked to be put on the waiting list. I had decided I would completely leave it up to chance - if someone didn't show up for the bus the next morning at 7.15 am, I would get on it and leave Airlie behind. If they didn't, I would do the two week trial. It was a weird decision but meant it was out of my hands so I was happy! So I packed my bag as I would have to check out either way! I got showered and changed then met Pete, the guy from Alton College, as I said I would cook him spag bol. Was looking forward to seeing his house but he said we were going to his friends house which was up a massive hill, I'm so unfit it was such an effort to walk up! But yeah, I thought I would be cooking for him and his flatmate but we were at some others peoples house, think there were like 3 more guys and a girl and the girl was cooking. So it's not what I expected. Felt a bit out of place and didn't really know what to say but the girl cooked an amazing spag bol, soo good, so after that one of the guys left and I decided I would too. After all I had an early start and I was still so tired! Had the room to myself which was what I needed. The door ebtween my room and the room next to me was broken and open slightly and the girls in the next room were sooo noisey! Heard every word of their conversations which was weird as they probably didn't know I could hear. Swear they couldnt have been over 18 by their conversations! Told them politely that the door was open, just so they knew. Like I said it felt weird hearing them, kind of intrusive. But I dont think they got the message as they started talking about me which was really funny. When one of them burped and I said "pardon you" they were like "oh my god she heard that? Maybe she can hear us talking?" - kind of the point I was trying to get across! Shame I didn't have my iPod but you've got to laugh. Luckily they went out eventually and I read and fell asleep but woke up at 4 in the morning when they came back and started chatting again till the morning! So I slept on and off for those last 2 hours before my alarm went off.
