It's a rainy old day on the hill…the first of many I'm sure! But I managed to get out for a run around Burnaby Park this morning before it started, when the clouds were just starting to look threatening. I've just finished having lunch with Monica (from Spain) in the dining hall, having discovered the most edible, nay, scrumptious meal option yet…Wild Greens! A salad bar with veges galore all made fresh before your eyes! =D Add your protein and dressing and you're good to go - my body is brimming with vitamins! Haha This, along with Sophia, are the things I love most about dining on campus. Sophia works at the main dining hall campus during the mornings, Monday to Friday. She is an older, European lady, and she is like a surrogate mother to me! Hehe Every morning she greets me, asks how I'm doing, if I'm eating/sleeping properly etc. etc. all the usual "Mum" questions =P Then she puts through my order and says "Ah what a girl! You have a good day sweetie!" Never fails to start my day off with a smile =)
On Tuesday I had my very first midterm here at SFU which I'm pleased to report went off without a hitch and was actually pretty easy…although perhaps I should hold my tongue til my results come through! Haha I spent the night before studying in West Mall Centre with Helle, helping her out with some of the English phrasings. It must be SO difficult to be studying in another language - I can't even imagine…Jesse stopped by for a visit and brought white chocolate and cranberry oatmeal cookies!! (Yes, he is like the male equivalent of Martha Stewart, and yes, they were just about the best cookies EVER!). Then on Tuesday night I went for a wander round campus with Faris, who I met at the start of semester when I was wearing my red, checked jacket and was walking along and he just came up to me and said "You look like a female Mountie!" I was like, um, hi….who are you?? Haha He has a beautiful guitar a lot like my baby back home and we was kind enough to follow me back to my room playing "theme music" all the way!! (for those of you Family Guy fans, imagine the episode where Peter gets his own theme music…"riding on a bus, riding on a bus" lol)
Today I'm celebrating the completion of my stats assignment (just completion, nothing wonderful, but hopefully passable!) with a trip to the free midday theatre to see a flamenco dance performance. It's pretty amazing to be able to go and see this kinda theatre every single week for free! On Saturday I'm heading down town in the afternoon to the British Columbia Ballet to see a performance set to music by Frank Sinatra - right up my alley =) Before which I plan to stop by Yaletown for $3 sushi!! Hurrah! Seriously, could there be anything better??
OK, time to head into the theatre…
