The journey from Dunedin to Christchurch was too long to do in one go so we had to make a stop somewhere along the way. We decided on a place called Timaru as it was about equal distance between. It took us around 5 hours to get to Timaru because we followed our good old guide book and made a few stops. The first stop was Shag Point (no lie we have photographic evidence!) where there was a viewing point to see Penguins, much to Lynz's delight. Lee was more amused by the place name. The second stop was actually in the 33 top things to do section in our guide book so you can imagine we were quite intrigued. This was Moeraki Boulders, which are perfectly spherical shaped rocks that sit on the beach and look like honey comb. This was probably the biggest anti climax of the trip so far, lets call a spade a spade to us they are just rocks on the beach!! (You can tell our time in New Zealand is coming to an end when we go to see oversized stones on the beach!) We got to Timaru quite late in the day so we just basically chilled out around the campsite for the evening. There was a big bouncy pillow like a bouncy castle that we think was meant for kids, but needless to say Lee was on it in no time!! We got to have a look around the town the next day, but there wasn't much to see so we set off to our last desination before Australia, Christchurch.
