Day 28. Last night we had a wonderful dinner at the Pump Room on Lake Kununurra. I don't know of many such places where you dine overlooking crocodiles eating fish in the water right next to you. The resident croc is called Hans and a newcomer croc is called Luigi, as he likes pizza. Before we left, our lovely neighbors here provided a lamington birthday cake and candle for me. RM had mentioned to someone news of my birthday.
Today we drove up to Wyndham for the day. We went about 30ks along the Gibb River Rd, dropping into the resort at the El Questro Wilderness Park and then onto the turnoff to the El Questro homestead. The road is much better than we thought to travel along. Much of the small section we did is actually bitumin. Our neighbors here just returned from doing the whole trip and said the road was easy with a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Then on to Wyndham and Wyndham Port. Cambridge Gulf is beautiful but no swimming and you have to be careful even launching your boat. Why? Crocs of course. We had to watch Elle closely near the water!
