Monday was a public holiday, which meant a three day weekend for me! I made the most of my day with a nice long trip to the Louvre, and made my way around all of the Italian sculptures and paintings (I still have so much to see, it is crazy!) and then enjoyed the rest of the week with trips to the park, water fights in the backyard, picnics and lots of cooking! On Saturday morning I was more than a little excited to go and meet Liss at the bus station! She only had the weekend in Paris, so we exhausted ourselves by rushing around all the different 'must see' places. Saturday we headed straight for some lunch/breakfast of baguette and avocado on the Champs de Mars, just near the Eiffel Tower, followed by a walk to the Arc de Triomphe, down the Champs Élysées to the Tuileries gardens, a quick stop at the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa and a few other bits and pieces, a visit to the Love Lock bridge where couples in Paris put a lock with their names on it and throw the keys into the Seine so that their love would last forever (we did a very cheesy friends forever lock), to Notre Dame for some ice cream, dinner in a restaurant and a relaxing evening sitting on the Paris Plage (the beaches set up on the river banks for the summer).
On Sunday we made it up the Eiffel Tower (so many people, but the views were amazing) then to Montmarte to see the Moulin Rouge, eat some delicious sushi, visit Sacre Coeur, the Luxembourg gardens, some more sushi for dinner, some more ice cream and then to the bus station to say good bye! It was so lovely to see her, and strange to think that we are only an hours flight away from each other, but that it will probably be November before I see her again! It felt very strange to be showing someone from home around my new city, it makes it feel a little less like a dream and more like real life to be living here!
