Sunday means my official full day off - so I spent the morning being exceptionally lazy by reading and dozing in bed, bliss! I then headed into Paris (My first experience with the metro was a success! Much more pleasant than the memories I have of being squashed and belted with briefcases as a nine year old) I met Edith, who is Caroline's sister's au pair,
and is Italian (but of course speaks German, French and English as well) who is lovely (it was a big relief!) it was like going on a blind date meeting her, neither of us knew what the other looked like, and we were both eyeing other girls off until Edith was brave enough to ask me if I was Estelle. I had being trying to decide between her and another girl who was standing on her own waiting for someone, who looked far less friendly!
We headed for the Eiffel Tower, which is definitely less spectacular during the day, and met her friend Jette who is a German au pair. They then took me to St Michel for an ice cream, it was an amazngly hot day once again, and then sat in the spectacular Luxembourg gardens (I had to concentrate on paying attention to the conversation and not just stare dreamily at my stunning surroundings).
It was lovely having people of my own age to talk to after a week of only children (who aren't much good for a two-way conversation yet!) and adults, and it was also lovely to be wandering around such a beautiful city. I had to resist the temptation to photograph everything in sight - Jette and Edith told me that you get over the constant desire to take photos after a month or so.... it is hard to imagine that happening though when every second sight is postcard perfect!
