With Aurore back from camp on Sunday, this week was much less about buses and metro than the previous two! We explored the local aquarium (They had alligators and turtles! Although Louis et Aurore were most excited about seeing 'Dory' and 'Nemo' of course), many more trips to the park and also to an amazing science museum. They also had a play date at Aurore's friend Eden's house, which meant some extra hours free for me! Louis asked me what I was going to do while they were gone and told me that I could play with his trains if I wanted to - I think he was concerned that I would be bored! To get inside the apartment building where Eden lives you need a code for the outside door and then someone to buzz you in through the interior door so you can reach the lift - of course I forgot that Aurore had the piece of paper with the code on it when I left them there, and so had to call Caroline to find out the code when I went to pick them up, then I realised that I didn't know the Eden's surname and so had to call all fifteen apartments and then apologise for disturbing them when it wad the wrong one until Eden's father finally answered (the last on I tried of course!) I definitely miss the simplicity of home where you can simply knock on the door!
On Wednesday I met some new au pairs for a picnic in the Tuileries gardens (between the Louvre and the Champs Élysées) and enjoyed the boiling hot sun of which there hasn't been enough of lately! Thursday night I went to another au pairs house for dinner with some French friends of hers (spoke English of course!) and then went out after to meet some of their other French friends (ironically at a bar called Café Aus - decorated of course with crocodiles, Aboriginal art and serving Foster's Beer!) A late night turned into a very late night after I missed the last metro and had to wait for two different night buses but it was a lovely night anyway.
