Even though Sunday morning began early, Louis' excited talking followed by 'Shhhhhh!' woke me up around seven, I felt much better and less like a zombie after some sleep and was excited to see how everything looked in daylight! Breakfast was baguette with butter and a cup of black tea, and after a much needed shower and Louis showing me every game in his cupboard, I took Aurore and Louis (well they took me, I had no idea where to go) to the park for a play. It is a very cute park and only a five minute walk away and as it was a Sunday, the street just off ours was turned into a market with cheese, flowers, meat, vegetables and seafood - it was a lovely introduction to the area for me! The street I live in is quite a busy one with plenty of shops (mostly food and banks though). Being able to walk to the supermarket and back in five minutes is a very novel and pleasant experience for someone used to having to use a car (or get some great exercise walking up and down big hills!). We had fun at the park, and managed some communication through a lot of gesturing, pointing and laughter (there was even with the odd French word thrown in from me).
Their house is much smaller than what I am used to and it is very strange being able to hear the noises of people living next door and to see people walking past the kitchen window. It took me far too long to realise that the glass is one-way and that they can't actually see me (turns out the guy who I thought was smiling at me was just smiling at his own, obviously pleasing reflection). But the small garden has a tiny paved area with a table and then a small patch of grass - and feels very private being surrounded by tall bushes, although we can see (and they can see us!) the apartments on either side which is also a strange experience for me!
My room doesn't have any windows, except a large one in the ceiling which means that i could theoretically see the stars from my bed at night, unfortunately they are hidden by pollution and the lights of the city, but it is nice to be woken up by blue sky in the morning if I leave the blind open.
