Wednesday in France equals no school! Which I think is a brilliant idea, although it means a long day with Aurore and Louis for me, which can be very tiring. Today Caroline took the children and I along with Louis' girlfriend of three years Jeanne, to the Foire du Trône which is a large 'show' that is in the Bois de Vincennes for the month of May (the huge park a couple of streets away from our house) there were lots of familiar rides, but also some I have never seen before! The best one I saw had giant plastic bubbles (like the ones that you get inside and roll down the hills in New Zealand) but on a swimming pool - I didn't try that one, we did go on the giant Ferris Wheel though. It gave us the most amazing view over Paris, I could literally see everything, Eiffel Tower, Sacré Coeur and off into the country side. It was one of my first big 'I'm in Paris!' moments - and to top it off the summer heatwave continues!
Jeanne and Louis played a fishing for ducks game, and Jeanne won a real fish! I thought it was very funny walking around with a goldfish in a little bag, although no one else seemed to understand why I thought it was strange.
Louis is currently obsessed with buses and trains - he loves showing me how to get to various places on the map (and correcting my pronunciation, which is very cute!) and has a huge collection of maps and plans which he is constantly arranging and drawing pictures of - but also blowing bubbles! He loves to stand at his bedroom window and blow bubbles (I have taught him the words big, little and 'pop!' with the help of the bubbles!)
On Wednesday afternoons Aurore has gymnastics and Louis has a music class so it is a quick dash up and down the street doing drop offs and pick ups (but a good opportunity for sunbaking in the park while waiting for them!) I love that everywhere we need to go can easily be reached by walking - I think it shall counteract the extra eating I will be doing here nicely!
