Today I started my now permanent habit of going for a long walk which has the combined use of exercise (Therefore making me feel happy from the endorphins and allowing me to indulge in cakes!) and sightseeing, the perfect way to spend a morning! Today (I confess it was actually afternoon by the time I got out of the house - I still blame jet lag!) I walked along the railway tracks (from which I have a clear view of the Eiffel Tower every afternoon as we walk to Aurore's school!) to see where I ended up - not terribly exciting, I just came to a highway that I couldn't cross but I love finding my way to my destination by just picking a direction to start walking in. Today my destination of choice was a small boulangerie that sold smallish boxes of macaroons, needless to say my walking was a little faster than normal! I felt very French eating my box of macaroons, although most of you probably won't be surprised to hear that I only really ate the chocolate, vanilla and caramel ones... my adventurous taste buds still haven't developed unfortunately! They were delicious though - perfectly crunchy on the the outside and gooey on the inside, and guilt free due to the huge walk I took to get them - which is the best part of all!
I experienced my first crabby French shop worker today - apparently my horrendous pronunciation was quite offensive! I am yet to decide if I shall never go there again, or go there every day until I reach her standards...
