Even though I found it difficult to wake up this morning, I was pretty excited to get started on the airbrushing we'd be doing this week. Nelly, another French tutor, was really nice, and started by showing us a demonstration of darkening the skin, as well as telling us the different types and uses of airbrushes and compressors. After the short demo, we got to have a go ourselves on our partner's for the day. This would have me in stitches for most of the morning, as the sight of everyone blacking up was just hilarious. You can probably see from some of the photos. Arthur got whited up, and said that at least now, he'll be more likely to attain a job. I was partnered with Lindsey, and it was my go first. I actually had a pretty decent attempt at it, and wasn't too slow either. Maybe i'll be good at the airbrushing...?
Lindsey then heavily-tanned me, at which I found it near impossible to keep a straight face. I've caught the sun before but this was just ridiculous. Great fun though. We then switched back, after a good wash, and airbrushed natural tones. Again, I actually managed to do this pretty well too. My colours are definitely getting better. Lindsey also did a decent job with me. So good in fact, that when I went to the shop to buy Lunchables for my lunch, I didn't bother taking it off. I maybe should have done. I got some looks. At least I wasn't still brown though. They really wouldn't have liked that.
After lunch, we had to airbrush the natural tones (again) and apply a natural makeup; the style we learnt on the first day. Again, I was pretty fast at airbrushing the foundation, and managed to apply the makeup rather quick too. I think i may have actually learned something whilst here y'know.
And if the day wasnt going well enough so far, Lindsey had to apply a male make-up to me, meaning just airbrushed foundation and tidying of eyebrows with a pencil. Nothing else. I can deal with this amount of makeup. You can't begin to understand just how relieving it is to not have to wear eyeliner, mascara, lip gloss, or eyeshadow, especially when you've been putting it on and taking it off your face for the past two weeks. Unless you like that sort of thing.
AND THEN! I finish at 4 and get to go home. None of this waiting around for a couple of hours before going back for 4, taking an hour to get home, and having hardly any sleep. Oh the joy! ...Although there is homework for tomorrow. Sketch a fantasy design that we'll be applying to our respective partners tomorrow. I've kind of done something but I'm not entirely happy with it. I'll have to wait and see what Nelly says about it tomorrow. I didn't have time to do too much, as I'd already decided I was going for a beer or four.
Victor and I checked out a nice bar called 'Rock & Fish', a bar/restaurant kinda place, but after picking up the cheque, we decided to walk towards home. On the way we stopped inside a fairly busy-looking 'Weatherspoons" type pub ('Yard House'), that played music AND sold draught Kronenbourg 1664... AND it was much cheaper... No wonder it was so busy. Stayed in there for a couple, and will most likely make this bar my new 'local'...
Fantasy airbrushed makeup tomorrow, so should be interesting. I just hope my partner Chrystal, who comes across as being a dick, is actually alright. Fingers crossed...
