Wasn't too sure what I was going to do today, as Jodi had planned to go sunbathe with the girls, but I ended up going out with another student staying here at the apartments, called Victor. As it was just after midday, we chose to find a bar and kill some time seeing what was around. We hit a couple of bars in Downtown, before Victor mentioned a huge music store down Sunset Boulevard.
After a few bus journeys, we finally reached the Guitar Centre. It was huge. It also stocked other instruments besides guitars, including drums and other percussive instruments. I thought I should probably buy a set of sticks and a practice pad so that I can keep in shape...well, maybe I'll get into shape for a change.
On our way down Hollywood Boulevard (as Victor hadn't seen ithe sign properly yet), some guy was handing out CD's and asked where I was from (I assumed because I looked like I might be reasonably interested in his style of music) and said he'd sign it for me... I'm not too sure why though. He said he was looking for donations, so I offered him a couple of bucks, to which he said he'd prefer three... I'm not sure if he knows the definition of 'donations', as it now seemed like I was in some kind of pretentious music shop, where the sales assistant was telling me how many copies had been sold and how popular this music is. He started getting really shirty with Victor, so I gave in and threw him the extra dollar just to get him to piss off, or at least my money back, called him a p**** walked off, with him saying "Thankyou. God bless you..." What a dick. I'm not giving any other moocher anything, especially when they act like that. I've not listened to it, but I guarantee it's utter pants. I'll let you know tomorrow. Anyway...
Victor went back to the apartment after food (the Philly Cheesesteak was immense), and I waited in another surf-themed bar down Hollywood Boulevard to meet up with Laura and Jodi, desperately trying to understand the rules of American Football. It seems to stop every 5-10 seconds. No wonder the Superbowl always seems to last an entire day. I'll keep trying to get my head round it.
We weren't out too late again, and I've made sure I'd already set my alarm for 4:20 tomorrow morning so I can go and watch the Spurs v City game in a pub in Pasadena, though I'm gonna find it difficult to get up I think.
