So, finally we got news this morning (after spending hours on the phone again) that the report is in to the insurer and they are going to put in an urgent request for the assessor to assess our claim - they hoped this would happen later today or by tomorrow at the latest.
Some good luck finally when we were called within an hour by the assessor who verbally confirmed they accept our claim and that they will pay us out and write the caravan off.
We are thrilled we have progress, but at the same time it is heart breaking to lose our beloved home away from home.
We were hoping our contents could remain in the caravan until we buy a new caravan and come back, but on advice we rang the local freight company and arranged freight of the contents to Perth.
We went straight to the wreckers to begin the arduous task of packing up our home.
Five hours later and we had no idea how we had accumulated so much stuff. We did trip after trip to the freight yard and filled up a couple of pallets worth. We still haven't finished so need to go back in the morning.
We have been tossing up today whether we should leave for Perth tomorrow after we finish packing the van but we are unsure and will decide first thing tomorrow.
Tired out from the packing we shared a burger in town and then headed back home, tired out but happy that we finally have answers and we know we can now move forward, buy a caravan and continue our journey heading west. Night night xx
