On Monday I stayed in the hotel in the morning for a couple of hours to finish the material for the counsellor education. After finishing it I went to the ministry to get some work done. I had a meeting with Carsten - it was very nice to see him again - and worked till lunchtime when Aksel, Carsten and myself had some lunch together. It is nice to be back in Thimphu and seeing everybody at the ministry again. I haven't talked very much with miss Kinley on this mission because I have been in Bumthang so it was also good to see her again :-)
Aksel was very busy getting drawings of the ministry building and starting to find out if it is possible to install some kind of central heating in the building. The Honorable Minister is very interested in this. I think all people in Bhutan could benefit from some central heating - especially in Bumthang where it gets very cold in the winter! They are tough people, the Bhutanese!
Going home from work I met Carsten who wanted to go downtown to do some shopping. I told him that Aksel and I were also planning to go shopping so we decided to go together all 3 of us. Aksel and I walked to Bhutan Suites - it is downhill, which is no problem at all - met with Carsten and together we found a taxi and went to the 8-Eleven. Actually it should be re-named to 10-Eight, because they have a sign on the door now that they open at 10 am and close at 8 pm. I am not sure why they call it 8-Eleven anymore ;-)
After shopping Aksel and I took a walk along the main street while Carsten went home.
Back at Khang we had a nice dinner - there are very many Japanese tourists staying here at the moment so they serve a very good buffet at night. And we have also got a new friend here - a young waiter, 19 years old. When we arrived in Thimphu he was quite new and very quiet and insecure. Now he is doing better and he really likes to talk with us. Every time we enter the restaurant he smiles and smiles and as soon as he can he'll sneak up to our table and talk - ask about our children, Denmark, how we like Bhutan and many other things. I have promised him my e-mail address so we can stay in touch when I go back :-)
Tuesday I was very busy preparing for the counselling course, correcting the tests from module 2 (master trainers), and finishing my presentation to the ministry so Tuesday came and went VERY fast. Now it will soon be time to return to Denmark! I look forward to seeing my family and friends again :-)
