I got into the flow today! It is a wonderful feeling when you get into the flow and the words and ideas pour down on your computer ;-) I managed to almost finish my paper and suggestion for a student counsellor education writing objectives, target groups, the tasks of a counselor at a technical institute, the topics of the education, and criteria for selection of master trainers and to make a presentation about the selection of master trainers! Despite the flow it felt late to work between 4 and 5 pm ;-)
We still haven't been able to access YouTube or upload pictures at the Bhutan Suites so Steffen asked if there had been any progress with the manager concerning this. The kind guy in the reception apologized and explained that YouTube and Flash had to be blocked. When they started the hotel the Internet was completely open, but then they got their first bill from the Internet providers - and that nearly ruined them because they pay pr. unit downloaded! Just like we did in Denmark 20 years ago. They had to block Flash and YouTube because of the cost. Well, even though it is very annoying we understand their choice now and accept it ;-) So we won't be able to upload photos from the hotel.
But back at the Ministry in the afternoon I was suddenly able to get a window of some kind and upload a few photos to my blog here! Hurrah! Don't know when I'll be able to do it again - but you can still find photos on my Facebook profile (upload is easy enough on Fb).
On my way home from work I met 2 young boys and they wanted to talk like most people here do :-) They told me they will soon finish 12. th class and want to continue to college. I asked them what they wanted to work with (once a counselor ….) but they were not sure yet. They said they wanted to find a job that pays well. Most jobs in Thimphu pay too little, they said, because it is rather expensive to live here in the capital. They also said that Bhutanese people are nature people and that they think it is very important for Bhutan to protect its own culture now when there are so many influences from abroad. But of course they liked the Internet and cell phones - they both showed me that they had cell phones :-)
Steffen, Carsten and I went out together to have dinner - celebrating Friday night :-) Carsten told stories from all the different places in the world where he has worked. It is exciting to listen to and I told him once again that he should write a book about his life! Steffen enjoyed the steaks - he has tried to buy meat in town so he could make some food in his kitchen at the hotel, but you know what? All of March is a "meat-free" month in Bhutan so you cannot buy meat in the shops at all. All meat shops are simply closed this month! Luckily he can still get meat at the restaurants ;-)
