Day 21--Vega de Valcarce to Hospital de Condesa, 19 km/12 miles, but almost as much climbing as our first day on the Camino--about 2300ft of climbing. It was stunningly beautiful with all shades of green grass, trees, moss, cows, rivers and streams--reminiscent of Ireland or WNC (when not in a drought). When we got to the top, the town, O' Cebreiro, looks like an old English Hobbit town--so quaint! We're in a new region of Spain, Galicia, settled by Celtic people. And similar to Ireland, we were greated by rain and fog. When the first shower started, we ducked into a bar for coffees and hot chocolates. And somehow we avoided the worst of the rain until we got to our albergue. We are the only 3 at our albergue tonight and were greated by an older woman in her fleece, housecoat and hiking boots--she was a real spanish mountain woman! She kept laughing with Clare that her mom didn't understand what she was saying.
