Today is Noche de las Animas in Spain (Night of the Spirits or Halloween). We're staying at a Pension (one step up from an albergue for only about 5 euros per person more). After last night's dormitory style 220 person albergue with all of us on top bunks and lots of rules about lights out and "silencio" and time up and out the door, we needed just a tiny bit of pampering. So we splurged! And only walked 24 km/15-16 miles today. More blisters however--the pounding on the gravel and pavement surfaces of the past few days has taken it's toll. But I think one of the things you learn on the Camino is when to stop and take a break and that it's important to take care of yourself, with definite and immediate physical consequences for not doing so. Good lesson to learn and bring home. Feeling good about my proper shower including shaving legs and trimming nails and attending to all my cute little blisters! And...looking forward to the Halloween party our Pension/Bar/Restaurant is throwing tonight!
