The bus route from Split to Sibenik could have been a tour- sweeping views of the spectacular coast around every tight curve as the bus hugged the narrow road. The steep mountains were crisscrossed with small plots of land, each marked out with stone walls. The amazing thing is that olives, figs, grapes and vegetables seem to grow out of stone! AND thrive!
We had a bit of difficulty hiring a car in Sibenik but a kind taxi driver rang someone and before we knew it, Miro turned up with a smart red Chevrolet. Paperwork completed, we hopped in the car and Geoff began to familiarise himself with the right hand drive while we were parked.
Next thing we knew, Bang! We were hit by a bus!
What felt like a large bump to us, went unnoticed by the driver and it wasn't until I jumped out and banged on the door did he stop.
Let me tell you, everyone in Croatia does NOT speak English and my Croatian does not extend to "your bus hit my car".it is more along the lines of "a glass of wine please".
To cut a long story short, after much sign language and help from onlookers, Geoff backed up slowly . The driver's side mirror had been rearranged by the bus but we were able to manipulate it back , no worse for wear...
The bus continued on its way and we shakily wound our way out of the narrow streets towards our final destination 40 km inland.
We arrived safe and sound and our host, Ivana, welcomed us with, "would you like something to drink?"

Rachel OMG - I'd want a whole bottle of wine after that! So glad you are unharmed xx
dale fort .....YES....and keep them comming please Ivana !!!
Angela Oh no! Good to hear you are both ok though. At least the car now fits in with the rest in the country because they are all dinted and no one seems to care. Not good being a panel beater in Croatia.
