Croatia joined the EU last night and we participated in the celebrations in Trogir, which is half an hour north of Split . A stage was set up in the square of the old town, surrounded by tables and chairs and we were entertained by a group of tenors, singing traditional Croatian songs. Several people were in the local dress, flags were flying, bells were ringing.... it was thrilling to be here and witness this historic moment for Croatia.
We are in countdown mode at the moment, just soaking up everything about this wonderful place. It is good to be back in Trogir and know our way around . The first thing I did this morning was have grilled calamari and cabbage salad for breakfast at Dominiks restaurant on the Riva - bliss...
Geoff and I bade fond farewells to Bruno and Olgitsa in Lucica yesterday and have vowed to remain in touch, what wonderful people.
Our good friend Uta, from Germany, joined us yesterday . It is her first visit to Croatia and she is as entranced as we are. Tonight we have ordered " Peka " for dinner, something I described earlier on, when we stayed at Kalpic. It is fitting that we are having this traditional dish as our farewell dinner.
Croatia has been all we expected and more. It has been good for our souls and we are so relaxed.
There is also lots more left to see for next time....
