I should feel a lot worse 2day than I actually do, was a very heavy drinking session last night, resulting in Soren Matt and I not geting back until about 6 o'clock in the morning - we deserved the night since we have been so hard working the last two weeks.
Truthfully the weeks have been rather uneventful, taught "birthdays" to my students, the first week going over words like balloon and cake, and they made birthday cards. The second week I threw a birthday party for each of the classes, we played pass the parcel, fruit salad and had balloon races. There was prizes and sweets, cheesy music and we sang happy birthday. In one of my classes, there was an actual birthday girl. I tried to let her win at pass the parcel, but I didn't manage it, but I had a spare present so she got that instead. The kids seemed to enjoy themselves which is the main thing even though it was all a bit chaotic, and I'm not sure they really learned anything from the second lessons, oh well.
Our school did a exchange with a school in Singapore, so last week we had some Singaporians ? we had a ceremony for them on monday morning, where our school performed different traditional dances and songs, I didn't have my camera, so I'm gonna try steal Anna's photos so hopefully they'll get added soon. Also my school has trained doves, which were released for the event.
At east campus school I watched Wallace and Gromit, a grand day out, so I taught them words like rocket and moon, they weren't interested in the words, just the cartoon, was a rather easy lesson lol. 2 of my classes were canceled on Friday at Shazitang, which only left my with one, this should have given me plenty of time to plan and organise my kindergarten, however on the bus there I still didn't know what i was going to do with them. Luckily neither did Matt, so betweeen the two of us, on a very short journey, we decided to hold a games day, outside at our kindi. It was a nice day, so was perfect. We got Anna involved and it was sorted. No preperation required, Anna had fruit flashcards that were mounted on different colour card, so we used them to play a traffic light game, and then played ladders. We did this twice, however when it was the turn for the 2 year olds to play, we played mingle mingle instead, worked a charm. Maybe I should go to kindergarten so ill prepared again.
As usual we went out for dinner on Friday with 2 of the chinese english teachers, the restaurant was really nice, however christmas overload, it was everywhere. They had clearly been to the same market place that we had been earlier in the week. Coco wishes for us to teach xmas to the kids for 2 weeks, so i've not started yet - and to help with this we ventured to a market where they specialise in tack. I only got santa hats, and some badges as prizes for my kids, but Matt and Soren bought santa costumes to dress up in, they loo well spiffing in them, except for the big rip in the crotch area on both the costumes haha.
Saturday was an another family day - this time the kids were from east campus, the poorest educated, and the poorest of the schools. Most of the kids come from farming backgrounds and don't speak any english, and neither do the parents, this made for a very fun day. We went to the museum, and I got to see a 2000 year old corpse. There are 3 tombs in Changsha, one of which held this corpse, lots of other artifacts too were placed inside with them. the day wasn't to bad concidering my child was very shy and couldn't speak english. We were meant to have an assistant, but after the journey to the museum I never saw her again. We all went out for lunch and gladly my family then took me home. Anna and Cassandra went into the countryside with their families to some grandparents house. I got an extremely well deserved nap.
Soren, Matt and I ventured out for dinner, to the same restaurant that we had previously been the week before. Last time had been a bit of a disaster when trying to order, but we were prepared this time. On the way up to the dining area there are pictures of different foods, so we took photos of what we wanted, so spring rolls and wonton :) then out for a night on the town. first stop was the VIP bar, were 2 random ppl joined us, one of which spoke english, he was a singer in beijing. he told us that his friend was waiting in other bar with whisky if we wanted to join. Free drink, can we turn that down, one thinks not. It was only upon leaving VIP that we realised this guy was gay and had a thing for Matt. Soren and I, in our element stayed in the new bar drinking with them, gleefully ignoring Matts pleas for help to leave. Eventually taking pitty on him we said our goodbyes. Of to Fangs bar, a bar that Matt and Soren are regulars in, however I have never entered. Way to many steep stairs is all I can say, they would be very dangerous for a drunk person, Matt. I don't know when he got very drunk, but it very quickly just seemed to happen. After consuming a bottle of whisky of to daylight donuts to sober the boy up, with no disasterous step falling, which i was very surprised at. I did steal the jug from fangs bar, that contained the last of our drink, oops. With a relitively more sober Matt we went into Milky, a club right next to the donut place, I smashed the jug in the donut place before we left, having already drank the rest of the whisky it was no great heartache.
Milkys was packed, but we did eventually find a seat, get some drinks and dance the night away, speaking to a fair few random chinese people along the way. To Matt's complete horror, who should walk over to us, yep the gay chinese man from earlier in the night. Oh how Soren and I laughed. I did eventually take pitty on him, and told the guy man that Matt was my "boyfriend" to get rid of him, Matt had better be greatful. I went to the toilet, and when I came out the place was empty, not sure how long I was away lol, the drunken duo where still sitting in there though, and had gatecrashed the gatherings of the only other people left in the club. This turned out to be the owner and his friends. So another couple of hours drinking and playing "rock, paper, scissors" with a very weird twist that none of us could figure out, we eventually left to get a taxi. Spent to much money, drank to much beer, to much whisky and slept for a near eternity apon arriving back at the flat. This was very early in the morning, where the gatekeepers husband was not best ammused at the time, sorry.
Woke up at three and haven't done anything since. Soren woke up at 4.30 completely clothed on the floor of his bedroom, love how there is always someone worse of haha.
