With not much time to pack, and ditching half my clothes, I made my way down to checkout of UIBE. After much argueeing with the cleaning staff about which bed was mine, I got to leave the building without any room charges :) I was one of the lucky few, everyone seemed to have something to pay for, whether it was broken or lost cups, or stained bed sheets - the saw every speck of dirt.
15 hour sleeper train to Changsha, lucky for me the people i've been placed with are really nice and the guys helped me with my mountain of stuff. Didn't get placed near anyone on the train tho :( but i coped. Napped between 5 and 6 on the top bunk. I'm not a tall person, but I couldn't sit up. missed the food cart going past, so after finding the others, few of us went to try find food. Basically walked the entire length of the train to find it, only 15yuan for hot meal, can't complain and it was edible, not like food we would get back home lol.
Got through the rest of the journey watching Juno on my trusty ipod - love Tesco - and sleep. Woken at 6.30 with the lights turning on and having to some how retreive my luggage from the overhead storage, Soren/scott came to my rescue.
People from the school met us at the train station, and took us straight to breakfast, dim sum, then of to our amazing apartment. nothing like what i was expecting. place is really nice and double bed, one room is en suite, and dvd player and flat screen tele. u'd never imagine we were in China.
Out for lunch to meet the officals from the school, some of which don't speak english, and then some went to the electronics centre - the majority of china's electrical items are made in this region, so they got themselves some cheap laptops. I decided against this, because the temptation to spend money is great lol. Anna and I went to the supermarket instead to get the essentials for the flats. like beer and cake. These are both for Soren's birthday, which is today, so we feel that it is justified. Also got washing up powder and stuff, but where rather astonished by the price, 218yuan, don't think i've ever spent so much, sure it'l last us a while tho.
At the school at the mo, which is right next to our apartments, but they're not in it. I'l take photos and stuff when i get the chance. Already been offered other jobs on the side, at another kindergarten and night classes here. we're gonna decide between us who gets what. Still don't no what age group we are teaching, however do know that we won't be teaching until next week. They're giving us time to prepare our lessons and get to know the children first. Get my own we space in the office, with own desk and chair, feel almost grown up lol.
Going for dinner soon, really feels like all i've done today is eat, but oh well x
