Thank God its sunday, the day of rest, it's been a long tiring week, but worth it.
This week I've been taken out of my comfort zone, and been made to do things that I would never normally do, however glad I did them, but not sure they should EVER be repeated. First thing was on Tuesday, during our usual napping time. The six of us were made to dress up in Halloween costumes, and in the dark hand out candy to all the teachers in the school and make them play games. Why would i feel the need to fake a foul of myself, but all the same - I've done it so first embarrassing act for the week over.
Wednesday is when I teach at East campus and Shazitang - I got to teach the hungry caterpillar, had the most amount of fun, the kids enjoyed it to. Went shopping after school, don't have any warm clothes and the weather is rather unpredictable here, freezing cold in the morning and nice and sunny in the afternoon - it's china.
Thursday after our morning classes we went out for lunch, with the people from our office, and then orange picking in Michael's (our drivers) garden. This was fun except for all the misquitos that were hovering around the trees. So far on the trip I haven't been biten to badly, however got 3 massive bites on my ankle, and 2 on my arm - so unfair. However the oranges were lovely, and we have a fridge full of them.
It had been organised for each of us to spend some time with a chinese family, children from the school. So at 7.30 on Saturday morning (why it had to be sooooo early i'm still unsure) we got picked up and taken to the old town of Changsha, which was really nice and I met one of my students called Minnie and her family. The six teachers each with our own family met and played games in the sand then out for lunch, and ate traditional food, and had rice wine which by the way is horrible but I tried it.
My family then took me to throw a clay pot which Minnie and I spent time working on and made into a heart. Then off to KTV where I did the second thing that was definetly not to be repeated. I sang on my own with a mic in my hand, what makes this even worse was it was 2 in the afternoon and I was completely stone cold sober. My family met up with Scott's family for KTV, luckily for me they arrived shortly after my singing, and I didn't need to take the mic again.
Anna arrived later on, as her family had taken her home already, and my family took us out to dinner, a buffet style dinner and then since it was dark we took a walk up Yuelu mountain to see over the city with all the lights, Minnie has way to much energy on the way up the mountain, running and trying to get me to run after her. By the time we got to the top she was knackered and was carried all the way down the hill. Wish someone could have carried me down, was absolutly done for the night by the time I got back down and it was off to bed.
