So we still went for a massage, Matt, Scott and I. We were informed of one that is close to where we stay, that was reasonablly priced - so armed with a map (drawn by Coco) we went on our way. Scott was leading, why oh why would we allow this? He actually has the worst sense of direction, with no ability to judge distance, yet Matt and I blindly followed, with hestitation I would like to add, however Scott being American he is always right.
So heading in what we can only hope is the right direction we set off . . . the wrong way. Giving Scott some credit, it wasn't entirly the wrong way, we did need to go left at some point, just about a 20 min walk further down the road. We did eventually get there, now completly deservent of the massage since we walked in circles, Matt and I clearly stating on numerous occasions that we would be better sticking to the main road, and taking the first left as Coco had instructed, however we did get there - so no complaining.
We were all in the same room - and we kept all our clothes on, having not been to a massage in China before, apparently this is the way. We were all given our own individual masseuse, who incidentally were all blind. This is because they believe that blind people's other four senses are stronger, theirs being their touch. Not sure I believe it though.
Can't believe how much it hurt!!! I either had loads of knots in my back that she was trying to get out, or she enjoys cause absolute pain. I've been informed that this is the way though. Some of it was really nice, the head and face massage that I was given was immense, and was the only time that I felt totally relaxed and probably could have fallen asleep - this was added by the fact they gave me a duvet to keep me warm :) this was only for when I was on my back, getting my head, face, arms and legs done.
I was the only one to get a face massage, Matt got a foot massage that I didn't get, which is probably a good thing as my feet are really sensitive, and I would have been worried that I would have kicked her in the face. In all it cost £7.50 for a full body (minus feet) which lasted hour and a half. It wasn't all pain though and did really enjoy the experience - would I go back though, not sure - jury is still out.
My legs and arms fell great 2day, however the base of my back is still rather tender, I feel there should be bruise covering the base of my spine, there isn't though - so no real proof of the pain.
Also watched Cassandra's demo lesson 2day, which she had spent sooooo long preparing, and had properly worked herself up about. I think I to would be worried if I'd been told to buck up my ideas, however she still didn't ask for help or advice. It wasn't that bad, however her assistant did give her alot of help, not even translating though, most things she said were in english which I found strange, but then it may be because Cassie spoke so quietly. The lesson did have many similar traits to Matt's demo lesson though, in fact it was very similar in terms of games that were played. However at least she tried, she will found out soon whether it was enough.
I really hope it was, although she has been withdrawn, it would be unfair on the children to make them get a new foreign teacher, and it would distrupt the flow of everyone else. I just hope that she becomes happier now that it is out the way - although she still hasn't asked for any feedback from us.
Dinner at the canteen was horrible tonight, it was the first time that they didn't have anything there that I liked, I wasn't the only one, so Anna and I are away out to find something that we can eat, with our limited chinese - although it is getting better. This may be because Anna and I have stuck post-its all over the flat with chinese pingyin to help us.
ok way out
