Round the world in 150 days
Lesson for the week: 'An ounce of prevention is worth more than 60kms of cure'.
The shin is at 92% recovery which i am extremely happy about. The only problem is that the rest of the body is tired after days of compensating for bung leg.
Oh, i forgot to write in yesterday that i saw THE cutest puppy. It was one week old and so tiny and could barely walk. It kept tripping over its feet.
Back to today. This journal may be a little bit all over the place because i stop on the side of the road or wherever i am and just write it, otherwise i forget. Some things are a bit out of order. Just a little not to avoid frustration...
So, i was walking along today and I waved at this guy in a van which seems to be protocol in the back country of Spain. If i don't wave, and they wave at me, i feel rude and in this case, i waved and got no wave back and just a spray of dust and rubble in my face which made me laugh a lot. In the villages, it is protocol to say hello and good day to pretty much everyone you come across but occassionally you come across someone who just looks at you like you're a freak. It's a bit strange.... not exactly sure how it works.
Pop pop had been looking for a donkey whilst she was walking and today i saw one. It was a bit of a hobo donkey, that was like a shabby horse with long ears. But i think it seemed to have more character than a horse.
On the subject of animals, ALL churches and large buildings of importance have huge nests on top of them. HUGE.
And also, in the last 2 days, i have seen 2 dogs with massive growths, the size of tennis balls, off their right hind legs. I'm not sure what the deal is but it shocked me both times.
After passing through a town during siesta, I missed it altogether and had to go to the toilet in the bush. I 'hid' behind a skinny tree in a swampy kind of area and realised after i was pulling my pants up that my right leg had been standing in 10cms of water. But my boots are waterproof so i had no idea. But the bottom of my pants are soaked. Bloody fool.
Oh yeah, another addition, just since i haven't been on the net in 3 days... siesta. A strange phenomenon. I had my first one the other day. At precisely 4.11, i was woken by the sound of power tools from some work site. My theory is correct. + or - 2 minutes from 4.10pm and that's when siesta is over.
