We have reached the end of our journey! It has been great to have so much support and words of encouragement from family and friends back home. So THANK YOU For all your support and words of encouragement.
We stayed the night in a wonderful place called the Crask Inn- definitely worth a stay. It is set high up in the moor near Loch Naver- in the middle of nowhere. Look it up on YouTube! It is very exposed to the elements and we had a good view of all the changing weather patterns.
We had a fantastic start to the day as the cycle was mainly down hill for 30 miles. The single track road took us for miles and miles across open moorland and then on towards the northern coastline. The sun was shining, sky blue and the smell from the gorse filled the air. In fact we could have been in Cornwall!
We had splendid views of Dunnet head- the most northerly point in Scotland- as opposed to John O'Groats which is the most distant point from Land's End. Dunnet Head is home to many different species of birds including puffins.
Instead of bagpipes to accompany us on our journey, we heard the cries of curlews from across the fields as we travelled closer to John O'Groats.
John O'Groats is a little less tacky than Land's End and it was a joy to cycle up to the end to end sign together and clasp our hands firmly on it. Finished. Kerry even gave her bicycle a little kiss.
The little pink line that we have followed so closely and carefully on sat nav had grown shorter and come to an end. It had taken us the entire length of the country on minor roads and cycle lanes, through countryside and cities, along rivers and canals, over mountains...we feel privileged to have had the chance to make this journey.
We have had a great adventure but also missed our families and can't wait to see them all tomorrow xx
