Last night of our trip! It has been fantastic to piece together the UK from one end to the other. The variation in people, landscape, flora and fauna has been much greater than I anticipated.
Today was very easy in terms of navigation because there are only about three roads in this part of Scotland. Our route took us away from Inverness over Kessock bridge. This bridge was challenging as it was very exposed and windy. Throw in a few articulated lorries and Kerry was ready for a cup of tea the other side...There were beautiful views over the Moray Firth to the east, and Beauly firth to the west.
We did have a cup of tea in Dingwall then soon after left all civilisation and climbed steadily for 25 long miles to the Crask Inn. This place is the most isolated pub I have ever visited. It is situated in the middle of a vast expanse of heather going on for miles and miles. I'm sure tesco would draw the line with home delivery here...We were greeted by a gentleman who appeared aristocratic apart from the fact that he had quite dirty clothes and gnarled hands deeply ingrained with peat. He served the beer, kept an eye on the generator, filled the fire with peat, dug up the rhubarb for supper. What a character.

Stuart Newberry A big downhill in the morning to Altnahara then to Bettyhill? and then along the north coast to Thurso. Good place to buy champagne! Hope the wind is behind you because it's pretty wild up there! Best wishes.
