28TH August SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA
Gday people,
Won't be able to say that from now on with this being our last journal from Oz! So tomorrow we are leaving for New Zealand, although had to change our plans. Appeared to have spent all our money so our three weeks in New Zealand have had to be reduced to three nights! Plan to go there on holidays soon to do it justice, there is too much to do there. Then we are going to Fiji for a week then Cook Islands for a week, after that we are flying into LA and out of Vegas. So will be home sooner than expected, was very excited now feels a bit unreal!
Thursday we got the train to the city with Mag as she was meeting John. We met Hilary and her friend Gail that she is staying with in Sydney. Weather was abit miserable, rather colder than Queensland! We went to Wildfire restaurant at Circular Quay and had hot chocolate opposite the opera house at twilight. We then went to Orbit bar on the 47th floor of Australia house, the revolving bar. On the way up we got stuck in the lift, got to the point where we pressed the help button and they didn't answer but just as the laughing was blending with slight panic, the doors opened almost level with the floor! Stayed in the bar soaking up the night time views of the city by night for an hour and then went and had dinner at Darling harbour, all very nice!
Friday we packed our boxes all day and did jobs, not very exciting!
Saturday we did the same in the morning and then it was our leaving Barbie. All the family were there and Jim. Paul's other work friend Chris also came for a bit with his girlfriend which was nice of him, So a good night was had by all!
Sunday, Us Stu, Ness, Jake, Aden, Jim and Oggie the dog all went for a walk to work off our Barbie breakfast that we had. Was nice and hot as we walked over and across the river, was rather hard work at times but very nice. The boys spent the afternoon watching films including Snatch as I played on the laptop! We then had snags (sausages) on the Barbie.
Our last two days in Sydney have been blessed with sunshine and temperatures of 27!
Yesterday we went to Circular quay in the afternoon and then Jim came and picked us up and we went for dinner at Doyles at Watsons bay followed by The Bondi hotel at Bondi. On the way to Watsons bay we stopped at the park in Dover Heights that has the most amazing views of the city. It was twilight so all the sky was red above the best skyline, pretty cool, just a shame it doesn't come out in a photo! Had a really good night and Jim insisted on it being his shout and dropped us home. He says he's coming to England but will believe it when I see it. Paul got good friends with him, well and me too so will miss him.
Today we got the train to the city stopping at Circular quay before getting the bus to Coogee, stopping at the hospital on the way. Went all through Randwick which was nice but sad! It was 27 degrees today so lay on lovely Coogee beach after having fish and chips. It was very nice but very sad to be there for the last time on our trip. Stopped off in the city before getting the train back to Mount Colah. Mag made us a huge roast which was very nice but very filling. Our other leaving present has been a total eclipse of the moon with the moon going red, quite cool but missed the shooting star doing this!
This has all been a bit rushed but lots loads of stuff to do and Paul's moaning at me, the eclipse is happening, 30 things to do before you die in Britain is on and Mag wants me to book her plane seats as She is coming to England on 7th Sept for 6 weeks.
So hope you are all well and preparing for our arrival, haven't booked our last flight yet but probably will be home about 21st Sept! Can't believe we are leaving Oz tomorrow, have had the best time here and wish it was all just beginning but its not so coming home it is and that's quite exciting too!!
LOVE AND MISS YOU ALL LOADS LAURA AND PAULXXXXXXXXXX
