Monday 12th February Gday people,
Hope you’re all good and enjoying the snow, frost and cold! The last week for us has been all about work, both of us worked Monday to Friday. I turned up at work on Tuesday thinking I was on an early (starting at 700) but was on a late starting at 1300, so had to walk back home. I was worn out by the end of the week, working 5 days a week for 9 hours a day isn’t for me, the hours are ridiculous. They are so long so the late shift gets teaching every day and an hour for lunch. I went to teaching the other day with some prof from Dublin talking about listening to old peoples stories. As an example he played the song from Billy Elliot the musical where his Grandma sings. I felt like I was back at home in the theatre watching Billy again, felt very strange that I was sitting in Oz, at work listening to Billy Elliot. Paul had one of Stuarts trucks for the weekend so on Saturday we went for lunch at Coogee then sat on the beach. Its only 5 mins down the road and is very nice. We couldn’t stay long though because we had to go to Karen’s for a Barbie. Pails auntie Jenny was over from home and Owens cousin who works over the road from Kings. Karen put a custard tarter in Stuarts face which was rather funny then he got her back later by smashing eggs on her head followed by water then flower, quite entertaining! We stayed at Stuarts that night. Sunday morning we all went for breakie at Bobbin head the national park that had the bush fire over the road, could see the black trees all the way through, was really bad but the fire did last a week so I guess that’s unsurprising. They have static Barbie’s there and so we had bacon and egg rolls off the Barbie. Sunday at 1400 me and Paul went to watch England v Oz in the one day series final at the SCG. The SCG stadium is next to where we watched the Killers, just down the road so is really handy. We booked the tickets on Saturday, thought it would be good experience despite neither of us being cricket fans. I thought I would be really bored as it lasts 8 hours but it was actually quite entertaining. We were in a mixed stand quite far back but with a really good view. It kept getting rained off, 4 times but we were in the few seats that were undercover so that was lucky. It got rained off at 2300 and England won after getting all but 2 of the Oz team out. So that was our week, the shortest entry so far which is due to work but we did make the most of the weekend. Start nights tonight 2130 till 0730 which is better than nights at home but still not good. It has rained all day today, absolutely p**d it down, worst rain for a year, typical. Got phone connected now, have text most of you the number so feel free to ring. Maria, we are making use of you’re awful coasters, feel too guilty not to, got my drink on them now. Claire we have put the photo of Lily on display next to Otters school pic. LOVE AND MISS YOU LOADS LAURA AND PAULXXXXX
