SUNDAY 22ND APRIL
Hey people, writing this weeks instalment a bit late as been busy but wont take long as unless I have forgotten there wasnt much to tell. I did night shifts Tuesday till Saturday which is never fun but got through it with no troubles, well we did have a nutter (well just a nasty twat) who chased one of the nurses round the department saying he was going to stab him, luckily he didn?t catch him though and the police and security were called. Paul meanwhile had two cushy jobs, one on an island in the harbour called fort Dennison where they were for a while trying to hang it out. The other job was at Rodd island in the harbour but for some reason the speedboat picked them up from the other side of the harbour and he had a 25min trip to the island, I so have the raw end of this deal! Saturday I got my hair cut and after telling her all about my hair disasters and how I only wanted the layers trimmed, the silly cow cut it all off. Not the worst its ever been but enough to cause me to paddy for a short while! Dont know what it is with hairdressers and their wish to further ruin my hair!
Saturday night went out for Katherines leaving night, shes the Geordie that I started with but she was only doing 3 months. That also means that I am now half way hrough my job at prince of wales ED, strange. It was just her and 4 of her friends from the nurses residence. Couldnt get too drunk as had to pick mam and dad up from airport at 0600. Went to the local first, they were all drunk already but was fine in the pub, Katherine is really cool and easy to talk to and have a laugh with, her friends were fine too. We then went to the ice bar normal bar for a cocktail, which they do lots of very special ones. Katherine then broke the toe bit on her flippers so we had to go and tape it back together! The next bar was the orient at the rocks, they spent the time there taking photos of each other although I still had a laugh with Katherine it was now 0130 and thought Id be better off going home. Going out with a group of girls initially and then feeling left out so made me miss my friends soooo much and felt very sorry for myself going home, ahh poor Laura! One of her friends Nan lives in Shepway and her mum went to Senacre, weird ay!Also Paul found a cockroarch climbing up his arm, was big too, very funny, gave him the hebbie jeebies for a while!
Sunday got up far too early and got taxi to airport to meet my parents getting off flight at 0600, had told them they could come back on their own but thought that was a little mean! Met them and Dad made the usual commotion you would expect of them, really didnt feel like it had been almost 6 months since had seen them. They had been to Bangkok for a night which they hated and Koh Samui for 3 nights which they loved. They werent tired so after short time at ours we got bus to the city and went to the rocks market, we bought a cool thing which cant be explained to hang on our tree - its cool though. The weather was rubbish, really grey but humid. We then got ferry to Manly where we had a walk around and some lunch. Dad was falling asleep on the ferry but jumped out his skin every time the ferry sounded its very loud horn which was most amusing! After that went back for a sleep before getting ready and going out for dinner. Didnt end up going out till 2130 and most restaurants were already closed and the rest kitchen closing at 2200, think Sydney stays in during the rain. Went to a very nice restaurant in Coogee though and Mam loved the Sydney tradition of getting your wine from the local bottle shop (off license) and bringing it in the restaurant, is cool though, they dont charge corkage either. We then went to the backpackers fave, the Coogee bay hotel, there was a live band in there singing lots of Dads fave so they liked it.
So thats the end of our week, cant believe the oldies are here in Australia and not even an argument yet!
So have a good week you lot, still missing you and love you all loads Laura and Paulxxxx
