Sunday 18th February
Hi people, hope you’re week has been cool and you all had a good weekend especially the oldies in Palma and those that were at Tash’s wedding. Started nights Monday night, was a huge shock to my system after not having done nights for 4 months. Didn’t start till 2130 and Paul walked me to work (well rode Stuarts bike). Was so tired that night, was very thankful to finish at 0730 and slept for 10 hours. Worked Tuesday and Wednesday too, was quite quiet except for the odd mentally challenged which there seem to be many of. Wednesday/valentines day, Paul made up for the lack of birthday and xmas presents and got me roses, oz heart shaped chocs and a new white gold necklace to replace mine that I broke for my pendant. That night the late start at work enabled us to still be able to go out for dinner. There are loads of restaurants near us, mostly small ones. We went to an Italian called El Castile, it was only small but funky and the food was lovely, It only cost £35, bargain. Thursday when Paul got home we went to Coogee for a lie on the beach and dinner in the English filled Coogee bay hotel. Friday I was off all day but waited for Paul to get home at 1500 to go to the beach but as soon as he did the bright blue sky went and cloud came out, so we ditched that idea. Paul had an ok week at work, he had Tuesday off because of Mondays rain and worked with uncle John on Friday so that was nice for him. We went to Darling harbour in the city instead, had dinner at a really cool seafood place called Ice Cube. We then went to some bars. We went to Home bar which I reckon must be owned by the same people as the London one was. We then went to Bar26 then Cargo. They were all really cool and all had big outdoor areas looking over the harbour. Cargo bar had a bongo man playing with the DJ, which reminds me of the Perriss’, the wedding and new year at the river bar. Was quite drunk by the end but not as drunk as my hangover made me feel. Had to do the weekly trip to the laundrette, what a bloody annoying chore that is. Its not that far but when you have got heavy clothes and have to wait for it to be done, it’s a pain in the arse. Its even worse when you’re hungover and the sun is pounding, although rain would be worse I guess. Wanted to go to Watson’s bay but my sorry state wouldn’t allow so we went to the beach at Clovelley. Its about the same distance as Coogee but just the other way about 5 mins drive. The beach reminded us of the English seaside. It has a small area of sand that goes into a long inlet of water which is surrounded by a concrete boardwalk before opening into the ocean. This long spot is really calm and clear so is good for snorkelling so now we need snorkels. It had loads of families cause its so calm, think that’s what made it feel like an English beach. Had dinner at the Clovelley hotel before having to do another night shift. I had swapped it as a favour for another girl and was regretting it. My first patient was a slaughtered 16 year old, gave him intravenous fluids and anti sickness drugs, I could have done with them never mind him! Had another really quiet night but it wasn’t too painful. Today where going to go to market but Paul woke me up too late then were going to go to the cinema but couldn’t summon up the energy so are watching telly instead. Cant phone any of you yet as need another phone card. So that’s all for now, that was our week. Next week have Thursday and Friday off so hoping Paul can get a day off cause working the weekend. Tuesday night there is a firework in the harbour as the QE2 and QM2 will both be in the harbour so will go and see that. We are also planning weekends away to make the most of each one so will keep you updated. Speak soon, love and miss you loads Laura and Paulxxxx
