Monday 11th March
Gday peeps,
Just quick one while waiting for the washing in the laundrette, still the worst chore in the world and i had to do it on my own today, not good! Nothing to tell during the week for me as i worked every day. Paul on the other hand had Friday till Thursday off, days off wasted on him though as he didnt do anything exciting. He went to the shopping centre, met me for lunch and not alot else. The laptop has died again so he did spend a few days sorting that out. The weather wasnt great either which didnt help, he was very bored and was glad to get back to work on Friday. He had a very jammy day that day as they were working on an island in the harbour called Goat island, its a national park which is soon to be open to the public. They got taken back and forth on a little boat and he said it had the best views of the harbour (opera, bridge and boats passing). My days are nothing like that, how unfair! That day i did go out for lunch with some of the other nurses but they went to a thai, i tried to be brave and ordered some fish but it was very thai and needless to say i didnt eat much, at least i tried to be sociable. Friday night was work sociable again and met people from work in the hospital local, 'the royal'. Paul came too and that was fine, everybody is friendly enough so it was fairly easy. While we were in there i noticed one of the girls that worked at Kings itu, Geraldine. I knew she was in Sydney somewhere as she had left on a years unpaid leave like me but wasnt sure where. She freaked out when saw me which was quite funny and we caught up, turns out she lives not far and has been doing agency at the same hospital. We then tried to go to one of the bars in Coogee but they point blank refused to let me in cause i didnt have any ID, quite strict apparently and very annoying.
Saturday morning Paul played a trial game for the local footie team. He lasted till 10 mins before the end. The manager said Paul was one of the best on the field so he obviously hasnt lost his touch! He enjoyed it but said they didnt have a clue how to play. While he was playing i went to Paddy' s market which reminded me of the Chatachuck market in Bangkok, probably due to the fact that its in Sydneys China town. Met Paul on the tram to the train station and went to the tribes for a barbie. Stuart and Jim who Paul works with picked us up. Mag and John's best friends were there and also a couple of other friends and Jenny, Karen and crew. Had a couple of drinks but wasn't drunk unlike John who was! Had a good night though, Jim is funny and easy to talk to so we spent most the night talking to him. On Sunday we went to Bobbin head (the local national park) and had a barbie bacon and egg roll. Stuart took his canoe so went on it with Paul and Jim with me in the middle. They tried to get each other wet and got me soaked then Jake got on with us and he also ended up soaked but was all good fun, my shoe fell in the water but lucily floated till it was rescued! Me and paul later went for dinner at Circular quay, found that it had been the Paddy's day parade a week early and had missed the whole thing-not good. Dinner was nice though, the harbour view at night never gets boring. Thats all for now folks, take care, speak soon
love and miss you loads Laura and Paulxxxx
