Stacey (the manager) is leaving the hostel tomorrow, and so was quite stress compared to her usual friendly self. She came into the kitchen whilst me and Bex were making our breakfast and said "right girls, its 8.30 time to start work"- doesn't she know never, ever to come between me and the food I'm in entitled to? (We had started a few minutes early so I felt entirely justified to carry on eating it). She made me take out all the pots and pans and clean the shelves, and then rearrange it, which doesn't sound it but was very sweaty work.
I left a voicemail on the Maths Department of the High School's voicemail yesterday asking for an appointment with a teacher so that I could have a look at the course and workbooks they provide, but thought probably nothing will come of it (why would a busy teacher want to make time for that in their schedule) so I went to the library to see if there was any books I could use as study resources for tutoring. It didn't look that helpful, so I read a gossip magazine, which was 2 months or so out of date, so wasn't that great.
I brought a massive hot cross bun for a dollar, and a big slab of peanut cookie chocolate to take round to Aron and Eddie's later, because we are watching the film Taken- so I will understand a bit more of Taken 2 when we get round to watching our Malaysian pirate copy.
Our room was having a deep clean today (Stacey had gone a bit obsessive with the cleaning, although it would have been better if she had been a bit more consistently concerned about the cleanliness rather than save it all up for one day), so we had to put all our stuff on the beds. Matts was responsible for sweeping and mopping the floor, and I was in the room when he did it, and I wasn't very convinced he did a good job. I would have rather Stacey told us to clean our room ourselves since we are the ones going to be living in it.
I've remembered the reason why I wanted to keep my diary going whilst I'm working is that I can use it to remember things to bulls*** about in interviews when I get back, but the only thing I can think that happened out of the ordinary today was that Josh found one of my hairs on the pass counter… I'm sure this will be very useful in answering the question "Describe a situation when you had to change the way you worked because of changing circumstances. How did you adapt?" if it ever comes up. Please feel free to leave sample answers for me below.
We ended up not watching Taken, as we got to Eddie and Aron's too late for it, and they were playing guitar with their mate. The peanut cookie chocolate was tasty, and we polished off the 300 g bar off between us. We watched a TV program that set two creepy crawlies off against each other, and had an introduction to each with 2 very over excited university researchers talking about their attack and defence actions.
