My shift at the café went pretty well, and was actually quite fun, as it was quite busy so I was kept on my toes. I'm the only non-Chinese person there, so sometimes they say things that I don't understand, particularly as Tina's (the coffee barista's) English isn't particularly good. Bella, who is the other waitress aside from me, was really helpful though and gave me really clear instructions of how to do everything, although some mistakes were made because I wasn't told how to use the till, so I had to rely on her to put things through for me, so my notes for extra bacon and mushrooms went through as extra mushrooms and bacon and eggs somehow, and I think she had forgotten to put through someone's order of extra ciabatta. The two chefs are called Jin and Fon (I have no idea if these are the right spellings) and the washer upper is called Oliver. At the end, Tina said I wouldn't get paid for the first 2 hours, but I would for the extra hour after that, and then asked me to write out the hours I was free for the following week- so I think I've got a job! The best thing was, after serving out loads of plates of egg benedict to customers and getting envious, I could either cook anything I wanted or get Jin to do it for me… It tastes so much better when it's come free after the shift you've just got a job with!
I was supposed to have a trial shift at an Indian restaurant tonight, but phoned them to say I had already got a job, but that Alice was looking for a job, so she's going to go tomorrow night. Tina said she'd ring me tomorrow to tell me when I'm working, so if it's not very many, I can still go to my trial shift at Hogs Breath Café (and hopefully get another free meal).
I came back to the hostel, and chilled out with Bex by the pool for a bit. She was happy as she'd got her free chair to go with her cap and torch that you get for buying a set amount of pints of beers.
Bex and Barry went out for dinner, and Alice went out with them into town afterwards, but I was too tired after my exhausting week!
