We stayed the night near the capricorn caves at a campsite , Ed had a look at the Caves the next morning, but i gave it a miss. The next day we made our way even more south and past the Tropic of Capricorn where we stopped and took some pictures.It is basically a massive Capricorn statue going down the east coast situated next to an information centre on route so you don't even need to turn off you just stay on the main Highway.

The next day we spent most of the day driving and arrived at Airlie beach just before it got dark. We stopped for the night in a car park, brought a ticket and then decided to go down to a bar and met a few travellers. Got the ferry back from Magnetic island and was dark by the time we got back, so decided to go to McDonalds and used the free wifi there. Glad we went and saw the island in half a day as it wasn't worth spending a whole day there. So we found a rest stop and just stayed the night there, could hear the sea at night was really nice.

Spent one afternoon at Magnetic island. Took the ferry across for $29 return and then brought an unlimited bus pass for $7 and visited the entire island. We walked over to the fort and tried to see if we could find wild koalas, but no luck. The old fort was interesting was a good 45 minute walk to get there, it looked over quite a lot of the bay. Got into Townsville, the first place after Cairns that felt like a city. Felt good to be around normal people and seeing civilisation seemed like it had been a very long time since we had seen people….more like cabin fever probably, two people travelling in a camper.
