My Camino Journey
This morning I woke after 14hrs of solid sleep feeling fresh and excited to start the day. I have now totally repacked my bag, moved things around and its feeling way more comfortable than yesterday. I still think it's to heavy, now with the stuff I took as hand luggage attached to my bag I am sure it's at or over the 10kg limit I gave myself. I packed up my stuff and was out of my hotel by 9am, my Train wasn't until 11.35 so I had plenty of time to get something to eat and have a wander around.... 5 minutes later I find myself walking out of a cafe with a takeaway coffee I took a few steps out of the cafe and thought what the hell are you doing, you are not rushing to go anywhere and could have sat down and enjoyed that cute little cafe..... I ordered takeaway out of habit and in that moment realised I have to make a conscious effort to slow down and enjoy every minute of this trip, the trip is not about getting to the destination but about every single minute of experiences no matter how big or small. Promise 1: That is the last time I will order takeaway coffee on this trip I am now sitting on the train watching the hot dry countryside rush passed and I worry that I have maybe set the challenge bar to high, will I be able to make it to Santiago de Compostela. I truly hope so, but it ain't going to be easy that I am sure of. I arrived in Pamplona and has a quick toilet stop, and this is where I met Janet, she is from Quebec, Canada. She pointed out that my back pack seemed much lighter than hers and told me hers weighted 13.5kg.... At that moment I realised I had been to harsh on myself 9.2kg was good, and after further talks with Janet sheet old me she didn't even have a sleeping bag in her pack..... I wondered what exactly was included in the 13kg she was carrying.... We walked together for a while chatting and found our way into town, Janet told me that she had only decided to walk the Camino 3 weeks ago and hadn't done any training with her backpack before today. In hindsight Janet was the perfect person for me to meet today, she showed me that there are many different people on this track and we have all prepared our own way, I should be so ******* myself thinking I should have done more, or packed less... I am here and that's the most important thing. Today I am grateful for Meeting my first pilgrim friend Janet, we found the centre of Pamplona together, and made me feel more. Confident about my. Pre-Camino training and preparation.
