My Camino Journey
I woke up this morning not feeling so good, my head was pounding and my nose was blocked up. We started out early and it was cold, we had a climb to start and the path was really rocky and hard to navigate.... While we were walking in the dark Michele kindly mentioned that they have wolves in Spain....... Sonia and I both then freaked out and thought we were going to be attacked, then started laughing when we talked about how we would fight of the wolves using our backpacks..... Anything to pass the time to the top of the hill and our first stop for the day. Our first stop was Foncebadon which was 5.3km from the start point and boy was it an amazing experience, the walk up was hard and the weather was cold and windy, we were to reach the highest point of the Camino today at 1504m above sea level. When we reach our first stop at just over 1400m it was misty and Sonia said it reminders her of Nepal. We had breakfast in this little hut on the hill, they offered cereal and toast and the all important coffee for 3.50€. We stayed inside for over half an hour. My nose was driving me crazy and I really struggled to beat has I was coming up the mountain. Sonia had some cold and flu tablets which I took with breakfast and also had this magical Vicks stuff which I put under my nose to help clear it up. Once we all finished eating we went outside and were blown away by the view.... It was amazing, the clouds or mist was moving so fast that you could only see the view into the village for a few seconds at a time, but then as the sun came up and the mist came over there was something totally mystical about the whole place, we took sooooooo many pictures. As we moved on it seemed every second the sky changed or the landscape just screamed at you to stop and take a picture, the track was still rough and hard and stopping lots to take pictures means it was going to be a long long day. There were so many cute little places to stop and enjoy, we were certainly going to be using in the whole day to get to Molinaseca.
