I am desperate to visit the Barahi Temple which stands on the small island in the lake, but each time we attempt to get a boat ride over, it is packed with tourists (just like us). Today we thought we would give it a try in the afternoon, only to find there was a football tournament in progress and even more people! We watched some of the football, the pitch was in an awful state, dry dusty and lumpy! Some of the kids that play footie in the street have only flip flops or even bare feet. I think they must have tough feet.
We walked by the lake, watched peope doing their laundry in there and admired it all hanging on the walls and fences! Avoiding cows and cow pats.
We walked on to a local park, the pathways form the shape of the birds that are their national emblems, there are some stone carvings, benches and a Hindu Temple, but as usual with anything here it was strewn with litter and neglected. There was two weddings going on at the Temple. One of the wedding cars was decorated with fresh flowers it was really pretty.
We have changed our route to walk up town so as to avoid some of the many pashmina sellers. This involves going around the back streets. We was amazed at how many hotels and guest houses thereare and of how much more building is going on, we also discovered a little cafe that belongs to a very up market hotel that sells croissants and cakes to take away for a very reasonable price. This had to be tried! The croissants were on a par with the ones we have had in Paris, so will visit again he he,
