Today it is raining for the first time since we have arrived in Nepal, it is quite refreshing as it is keeping the dust down and making the air seem more fresh. Also pleasant sitting on veranda watching the rain. Tried breakfast at a different restaurant today, it was not as good as where we usually go but you do not know unless you try! There was a young man who introduced himself as Colin in there who was off his face after drinking gin all night, he decided he was going to join us and chain smoke while we were eating, which did not please Ray. Colin kept prattling on about the meaning of life and being a zen master lol. I asked if he was on holiday, he said no he was a paragliding pilot but had no work this morning because of the rain. Quite frightening to think he would be taking people up if it was fine weather in his state!
We had planned to try a local bus to go to visit a big lake about 10k away but the rain has put pay to that, we will try again tomorrow and today just chill out.
Yesterday we had planned to walk up one of the hills to a place called Sarankot where people go to watch an amazing sunrise over the mountains. We did this nine years ago and it was spectacular. We had hoped to suss out accomadation there and maybe book a night for next week but this did not happen as we could not find the path, so will look on Google maps for better directions. We ended up just mooching around old Pokhara for afternoon.
I discovered a crack in the soles of my old faithful North Face shoes so visited the local shoe polisher cum repairer to see if he could glue them as he seemed to always glueing and sewing peoples shoes and boots. He said he would glue them which he did, then to my horror he started sewing them with huge needle and thread, l thought he had ruined them and they are my favourite walking shoes and l do not think l will ever be able to afford to replace them, but l think he has done a good job, only time will tell!
Last night we tried yet another restaurant,Ray had pizza which he said was very good and l had spinach and mushroom lasagne wich was awesome. We thought we would have a change from momos or chow mein lol.
The rain is coming down quite heavy now and looks set in for the day, waiting for electric to come on so can make cup of tea, but could be long wait.
