On Friday Ray went fishing with a guide for the day, unfortunately he did not catch anything, but had a good time which was the main thing.
I thought I would have a relaxing day and try and finish reading my book. I went for a stroll along the street, but was pestered by the shop keepers to go in their shops , one young chap even offerd me a cup of tea. I then thought l would sit by the lake to read, after running the gauntlet of Tibetans selling their wares l mannaged to find a quiet location. After about 5 mins l was approached by a smartly dressed and well spoken chap who claimed he was entitled to the Crown of Nepal and had the backing of David Cameron, the Queen and President Obama. I do not know if that is true but the Royal family here has been in turmoil since having to relinquish power and there being a massacre that wiped most of them out. He seemed like a nice chap and he did buy me a satsuma.
I started to read again then wad approached by the most dirty scruffy nit infested child you ever saw, as l was sitting down her eyes were level with mine, she had a laminated piece of paper begging for money, l refused to give her any and felt cruel and heartless, but these kids are sent out begging then have to hand the money over, its very hard but if you give them money then you end up with more people rounding up kids to beg. So l decided to go back to my room.
When Ray returned we decided to go to one of our favourite restaurants amd have chow mein and a honey lassi. The waiters here are always a bit over attentive, but tonight they were making me feel uncomfortable as our waiter kept standing right next to the table and watching us. I thought Ray was going to tell him to f**** off, we left early and did not have our usual pot of nepali tea.
When we got back l had a terrible headache and could not sleep, then in in the middle of the night l was sick which is not fun at the best of times, but when you are scrabbling around for a torch as well its definitely not. I was ill all the next day and stayed in bed all day.
Today after a nice shower l felt much better but thought l had better take ot easy and not go walking to far , so we decided we would hire a boat on the lake and have a picnic. We bought some 6 grain trecking bread from the german bakery, Ray also had a cake but l did not fancy one so that shows how ill l was lol. We also got some yaks cheese which was yummy and l think would be great as cheese on toast also some fried peanuts which turned out to be very spicy. We paddled about for about 4 hours stopping to have a picnic on the far shore it was really peacefull with beautiful viws of the mountains.
