Still playing catch up on blog, due to lack of wi fi.
We had a good nights sleep in our bamboo hut, it was much warmer than l though it would be! We had an early start with a boat trip down the river to see crocodiles but it was very misty so no show as they like the sun.
It was so calm and peaceful as the boat is pushed along by a long bamboo pole, rather like a punt. There are many sorts of birds on the river and we were given binoculars. We get off the boat and start our jungle walk. Ray told the guide that l was not keen on getting close to the rhino ( l don't think Ray was that keen on them either ). The guide decided to take us a different way, l thought that we would be walking along tracks, but no we trampled through the under growth. I followed behind the guide, for a small guy he could walk fast. He kept pushing branches back and letting them flick me in the face, much to my amusement not.
We saw an awful lot of rhino poo, which made me very anxious.
We saw lots of spotted deer, monkeys, wild boar and passed through forest, flat lands covered in elephant grass, dry river beds and banks by flowing rivers. The scenery was spectacular but l was always thinking about rhino lol.
We stop for a picnic by a dry river bed in the full sun ( much to Rays annoyance ). I was worried about him as he was getting very red and struggling to keep up the pace. After lunch we hit a proper walk way and l foolishly thought it would be a nice amble back, but no off we went through the undergrowth, by now Ray was very hot, tired and a tad grumpy he he, we suddenly saw a couple of large rhinos feeding, the guide is delighted (me less so ). We had to stand still and he kept giving me binoculars to look at them. People dream of a chance to be this close and although they are beautiful creatures l am scared to death of them. Suddenly there was noises from behind us which the guide thought was more rhino coming our way but fortunately it was just monkeys.
We walked on to the banks of the river and saw crocodiles basking in the sun, after walking on further the guide made the two assistants strip off to their pants ( much to my amusement ) and wade across the river to get a dug out tree boat to ferry us over. It was soaking wet and muddy, so Ray is not amused yet again lol. After reaching the other side we had to walk further then wait for a jeep. It was a long day at quite a pace, glad we did it, not sure we would doit again.
